eek!

I have a major life decision that I need to make in the next 26 hours. Stay tuned to JFW for updates.

Strangely, things would be much simpler if it's wasn't for me being happier than I was, say, eight months ago, and considerably happier than I was, say, two years ago. Darn my upwardly trending affect!

KFC

I say he's gettin' hitched.

Anonymous said...

Duh - he'd never work at KFC. Remember, he's an on again-off again pescavegetarian.

It's LJS.

I knew a vegetarian who went to KFC. He liked the biscuits and potato wedges.

As long as it's not one of those LJS/KFC/Taco Bell deals, we're fine. Those scare me.

jeremy said...

LJS is commonly combined with A&W, not the pepsified KFC/Taco Bell/Pizza Hut juggernaut.

If I end up working for LJS, you can count on me for Hush Puppies.

...and i think he's getting hitched to a chicken in boston!

okay, seriously, i just have to say that popeye's has waaaaaaay better biscuits than KFC. hands down.

Hands down, the best biscuits in all of chain restaurant dining are the Cheddar Bay Biscuits at Red Lobster.

If I go through with my decision to adopt a child tomorrow, and it ends up being a daughter, I may name her Cheddar Bay.

dorotha said...

you and the cheddar bay biscuit lovers among your readership are gross and disgusting people. biscuits should not have cheese infused in them like that.

i hope you get help, sick-o.

dorotha said...

and i hope your future daughter, cheddar bay freese, decides to take her husband's name when she marries.

jeremy said...

The question is whether I just name her Cheddar Bay Biscuit at the outset, rather than Cheddar Bay Freese. To be sure, it would save me from spending years trying to find some guy with the last name Biscuit who'd agree to an arranged marriage.

you are in luck, jeremy! it looks like there is a couple in pennsylvania who might be able to help you out. i'd contact them before ben. he's liable to be a retiree. for the right amount of money, kathy and louis might be convinced to produce a son.

Yes, Red Lobster has amazing biscuits, and a darn good steak, too!

Good luck on the big decision!

He's going to reveal himself as the LDM!

Anonymous said...

You don't suppose the Biscuit family of Newville, PA has a second home in Fitchburg?

Anonymous said...

Dude, you can't leave us! You just got tenure! And if you left, who would be our jester?

dorotha said...

dude, if jeremy is LDM, i will eat a cheddar bay biscuit.

lago said...

What is this Popeye's crap? The best fried chicken is at Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles.

I call North Carolina.

jeremy said...

I DO NOT HAVE TENURE! I have eight- or nine-ure, at most, and close does NOT count with these things. A decision on my tenure case here at Wisconsin will not be made until late April, at the earliest.

dorotha said...

i didn't say popeye's had the best friend chicken. i said they had the best biscuits. i'm a vegetarian (ovo lacto, thanks for asking. not fake-o like jeremy).

Anonymous said...

Pony up, Freese. How lucrative is the research grant and who is footing the bill???

dorotha said...

if jeremy doesn't get tenure, i will eat a cheddar bay biscuit. and some fried chicken. maybe a brat, too.

Dorotha: I'm not challenging you or your categories. I'm asserting that Roscoe's has the best fried chicken, independent of your biscuit assessment or your dietary habits.

And just because Wisconsin hasn't officially decided the tenure case yet, that doesn't mean that someone can't get a tenured offer from North Carolina, right?

Pub Sociology offers a helpful poll to guide you through this difficult decision.

In some ways, this has gone from barking up the wrong tree to barking up something that, upon inspection, turns out to not even be a tree in the first place, but rather just a tall, hairy guy who's confused at why you are barking at him.

Wow! I;ve been trying for an hour and a half to get to the comments page! Whew! Now I've forgotten what I was planning to say!
Oh, okay, here it is:
Wait... Okay, I was planning to use the word "amaranthine," as it is beautiful.
No matter the outcome of the decision, Jeremy, I am sure, will remain amaranthine in his wit, poise, and generosity in letting us comment wily-nilly all over his blog. You're my favorite sociologist!
