some people think the x-men films are unrealistic...

...what with the idea of their being genetic mutations that cause people to be able to control the weather, suck the memories and lifeforce out of others, or shoot some raspberry laser blast out of their eyes. And yet, I just did some math here at the office, and these are still not as statistically improbable as the premise of the new Rocky film coming out this year. Rocky, played by an actor who is 60 and who will presumably be presented as something like 60, will be boxing the young champion Mason "The Line" Dixon (yes! that's really the name they're using!) for the world heavyweight title. They have shot alternative endings and so it is unknown what will ultimately be shown, but supposedly all of the alternative endings have the fight going all 10 rounds.

Main excitement in my life today is that I have finally configure a dual monitor set up here at the office. As with UltraEdit last week, it took less than ten minutes of using it to understand why people love it so much. If you are still stuck in monomonitor monotony and have the resources for a second, I strongly recommend it. Makes work even easier than beating up a cloddish sexagenarian, and every bit as fun.

Uhm, yet another post in which I get no acknowledgement.;-}

what size are the 2 monitors? and this is better than one giant one (23" or above)?

i heart heart heart the x-men. i find them completely realistic. i don't know why you think that someone who controls metal or someone who can "bamf" into different locations is unrealistic. string theory, dude.

oh, right. and i have never seen a movie with sylvester stallone. in fact, if he were part of an "ensemble cast," i would avoid the movie out of principle.

Two monitors would seem to dramatically increase the possibilities for being distracted from actual work.

why is everyone so focused on the two monitors part of the post? x-men, people, x-men.

do the x-men use two monitors?

Congrats on joining the revolution. Dual screen is definately they way to go. I don't know how I got by before this setup. I find the configuration particularly useful for doing qualitative work. Qualrus on Screen 1 and the Wordprocessor (or LaTeX tool) on Screen 2... all is bliss.

the x-men don't need monitors. they can just use psychic powers to know all the stuff they need to.

but they do have walkie talkie things.

oh, and i guess i would watch stallone in an x-men movie. doncha think he'd be juggernaut?

There is a mutation (on the 8th chromosome, I believe) that causes those born with it to be born with two monitors instead of eyes.

Astonishing that JF went 'pliff' into cyberspace while adjusting his new ACs the day after the heat wave ended .............. sole prints smudged on his monitors the only clue we have as to his 'pliff'......

RWS: you are right, i forgot about that. maybe he could be a sentinel?

so, i'm surprised no one has commented on the vicious circle brought about by the increasing talk about mutant-freaks brought about by increasing unrealistic films brought about by increasing number of monitors brought about by increasing ac output, ad infinitum

In the interviews I've seen with Sly, he comes off as witty, and doesn't take himself too seriously. I actually found him to be quite charming and not at all cloddish. Kind of hard to understand, but not dumb.
