...the wagering market, at least on TradeSports.com, is giving the Red Sox about exactly the same probability of winning tonight's game as they are giving Kerry of winning the election (between 40-41%).
BTW, if the Yankees lose, I'm going to blame it on a Yankee-fan colleague of mine, who with the Yankees up 3 games to none earlier this week, jinxed his team by thanking a group of us for scheduling a dinner party so that he wouldn't miss the Yankees "in the World Series." On the farm, we refer to such behavior as counting one's chickens before they've hatched; I'm sure in New York they must have some cute urban equivalent.

The curse of the Bambino - the Sox will pay for trading the Babe way back then - curses endure for a long, long time, contrary to what modern science says -
I guess now that the "Curse of the Bambino" has been lifted, we Cubs fans have hope of getting rid of the goat.
The "beating the Yankees" portion of the curse has been lifted. But, technically speaking, the Curse of the Bambino refers to no World Series title since 1918. However, win or lose in the World Series, Boston fans will never forget Oct. 20, 2004.
I've had to dredge up some old Buddhist tomes about life spans and time frames of reincarnation to get this matter finally put to rest. 144 years is the full life span of a human being between time of birth and reincarnation, so it stands to reason that since the Babe was born in 1895, he is coming back again in 2039. It doesn't take much ciphering to see that the curse will be lifted then and not a minute before. And in case you're wondering, I'm not about to reference these tomes for Sociologists to have some sport with, no pun intended. Sox fans will rue the day they read this I tell you, but it's true. No cigar, no banner until 2039.
YANKEES SUCK!
...it now has a whole new ring to it!
but, the world series hasn't even begun yet, so will keep our heart rates up
Four teams play in Major League Baseball's League Championship Series. This year, the Boston Red Sox defeated the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series, while the St. Louis Cardinals and the Houston Astros meet tonight to determine the winner of the National League Championship Series.
The owners of the Yankees, Cardinals, and Astros are all friends of George W. Bush and big contributors to his reelection campaign. The owner of the Red Sox, on the other hand, is a big contributor to the Kerry campaign.
The noble Red Sox defeated the Yankees, the most evil franchise in the history of professional sports. Let us all pray that good continues to triumph over evil.
Go Red Sox!
don't unwrap that cigar, buster - you'll see !
what about the demise of that unfortunate, reveling Sox fan - hmmm? You think that isn't connected to the Curse of the Bambino?
I think the poor girl was planning on voting for Kerry on November 2nd and a Republican cop killed her.
Ha! Red Sox win!
Suck it, TradeSports.com!
