cultural repatriation

As I continue my unenthusiastic approach into the valley of the middle aged, I am considering re-introducing television into my life. Yes, me, with TV. Maybe cable, TiVo, the whole works. It's either that or hair plugs, I figure.

Think of it as a substitute fireplace. I don't feel compelled to watch mine simply because it's on. The flickering changes are quite good company sometimes.

And then, if anything catching happens to come on, lift your tired eyes and, yes -- watch.

Project Runway season 2 is over, so why bother?

Yes, but there will be a Season 3!

nothing worth watching on TV - go for the hair plugs. plus, now that you can be president, just have your friends/staff brief you on current events (it works for your current president).

60 Minutes is a pretty good show.

Also, some good stuff on PBS.

Also, March Madness!

Word is that CBS is webcasting at least some of the early round games... so sooner or later, March Madness won't be an excuse to get a TV.

Also, Apple and Comedy Central have inked an interesting deal to allow access to the Daily Show and Colbert Report via iTMS for a $10 monthly charge rather than $1.99/episode.

I don't understand why people hate TV so much. I accept it, but I don't get it. In my anecdotal non-scientific observations, I noted that the people my age who don't watch TV are either working or basically surfing the Internet. Is that better? Seriously. Is it?

Though I am with you on intelligent design, I will admit that I think bubblegum flavor is The Shit.

Do you have to go all the way right away? That is, can't you just get a TV and cable and decide on Tivo later? Why the rush?

There are some great shows on TV, Law & Order and spinoffs for one. The good (or bad) thing is that they are always in reruns and so you can catch one at almost any time of the day.

I recommend Grey's Anatomy among the newer dramas, great show!
