who's jeremy freese?

I was linked by the front page of DailyKos yesterday for my post on the Chris Dodd and Dennis Kucinich. One thread in the comments was "Who's Jeremy Freese?", which included the following in a response from somebody apparently connected to UW:
He's an odd guy, but very insightful.
I can't really complain about that. Maybe I'll use it as my third blurb, after Ann Althouse's "The best sociologist in the world" and Kieran Healy's "The Italy of academia."

One of the college friends I am hanging out with here in Chicago is a firefighter and member of the firefighter's union who follows politics at least as closely as the median American. I asked him over dinner, "What's the thing with firefighters and Chris Dodd?" His response: "Who's Chris Dodd?"

Chris Dodd was the only "real" democratic senator from CT while I was there...

When you've been derided by Kos commenters, you know you've hit the Big Time!

Congratulations on the "big time" link. That said, I was appalled by the elitist tenor of the Kos comments and especially by the implication that an observation would only be of interest there if one "should know of" the observer (and her/his blog is widely read and oft commented upon).

Hope your first days in Chicago are fabulous!

Since you don't mention her by name, I wonder if you're aware that the person linking to you is Laura who was your co-panelist on the ASA blogger panel.

You may have gotten mentioned on Daily Kos, but what happened to your wikipedia entry? It's disappeared!

Frankly, I always hated election time at the fire department (I was a volunteer firefighter/EMT). Politicians court firefighters and believe they can pay homage to a group of civil servants, win their votes, then do whatever they fancy afterward.

My family was put in the middle of a political battle a few years ago (attached to the fire department) and we still have not recovered from it. So... the comment about the spiffy dalmatian suit is "suiting"! Congratulations!!
