Not that I don't think I'll be back to Rhode Island or Connecticut, mind you, but might as well get them crossed off sooner rather than later.)

Actually, you should take a day trip down to the Cliff Walk in Newport, R.I. It's very very cool.
Take the Ferry to Block Island and rent a moped.
Why are these posts from the train stations, why not simply from the train? (Or were you not taking a train?) It seems that in the NYC-Boston corridor you'd probably have reception all over so why wait to be at a station?
My browser dropped a few times between stations on the way there so I didn't risk it. But I think it probably would have worked.
