i wonder if this person is in the right line of work

A man unaffected by price, impervious to the market. Economically, you don't meet many of those. He might be exactly in the right line of work, if you think about it.

Anon: Good observation as well. I wonder if someone truly impervious to the market qualifies as a kind of sociopath.

Depends on the region, I think. And the times. And other lifestyle characteristics.

Probably we could do a bell curve of individuals impervious to the market.
