Eleven weeks into this diet, and I'm over the thirty pound mark. This past week I think I benefitted from a dietary secret weapon: the stress of a zillion things going on. Actually, I had a lot of stress during the Great Weight Gain of 2003, but at that time my slogan was: "When the going gets tough, Jeremy gets donuts." But when you decide to eschew caloric consumption as a coping mechanism, it's like you get this metabolic increase that you don't overwhelm with increased intake. Or something like that. Metabolism is kind of like electricity for me, where I sort of understand it, and can talk about its various properties in various ways, but, I feel like at the most basic, authentic level, I honestly don't even remotely fathom how it works.

I went to a dinner party last night that had some fabulous food toward which I did not exhibit great restraint. Nowadays, all kinds of men take pride in being able to cook well. It's a rare man, though, who can cook up a good meal and also bake an absolutely scrumptious pie for dessert. One of these is Tom Bozzo.

time to visit the gym and start lifting some weights - best way to keep a high metobolism is to build/maintain muscle.

Aw, thanks. The diabolical plan was that dinner wasn't going to break the points bank, at least until Suzanne cut you that enormous piece of pie (w/ which you exercised more restraint than I could muster).

Good on ya'! Have you already thought about, once things settle down a bit, whether you'll appear in WW promotional materials? Is that out of the question? Your mom would probably enjoy seeing you on t.v.

What an awesome accomplishment! With stress and getting to ready to move I am not sure I would be able to leave the Greenbush Bakery parking lot. Which is why I am always grateful when driving down Regent Street and I am stopped at a red light my car exerts its own fortitude and turns graciously right or left. cris

Congratulations! Cool chart, too.

I actually managed to lose weight this past week despite being fed in the damn cafeteria for the entire conference and having no gym access at all. And then when I went to my doctor's appointment today, they commented on it. Hooray.
